what is artizen?
Artizen is a concept created by Fi Burke. Artizen explores how creativity and digital technologies can enhance lives and lifelong, independent learning. Artizen is also an ‘identity’ for the work Fi creates as an independent filmmaker and visual artist.
Fi works as an independent freelancer as a ‘hands-on’ practitioner, lead artist, collaborator, consultant or programme developer.
“I prefer to work on projects, programmes or research that in some way facilitate the personal development of others. I also have a love of events and enjoy ‘making things happen’ either by contributing as an artist or by using my business skills to facilitate their realisation.”
“My own work is often inspired by elements of nature, particularly water, philosophical science and eastern philosophies. I focus on the essence of that inspiration; sensual and abstract with an emphasis on rhythm and energy.”
“As a creative practitioner, I feel that it is important to have the freedom to choose which ‘output tool’ works best rather than be labelled as a photographer or filmmaker etc. I often see my role as also being that of catalyst, mentor and facilitator"
