Creative Agent

creative agent delight Being a Creative Agent is an opportunity to collaborate with young people, schools and the creative industries to develop and research innovative programmes which explore different approaches to teaching and learning. I tend to specialise in Special Needs and Secondary settings although I work with a wide range of schools and ages.

I am keen to develop student voice, a sense of community and new platforms for general wellbeing of all those involved in learning communities. Much of this work has been part of the Creative Partnerships programme and delivered through The Mighty Creatives. See www.creative-partnerships.com and www.themightycreatives.com

This role involves project management, change management, facilitation, being a critical friend, a catalyst and broker of relationships. Research is often carried out using an Action Based Research model. Other methodologies include Action Learning Sets. In my role as Agent, I have also worked specifically with a group of cultural partners across Nottingham City, exploring lines of enquiry with a focus on school settings and Facilitated research into how personalised learning & creativity can impact learners and teaching methodologies.

Below are some examples of  projects:

Wilsthorpe Community School

Wilsthorpe is part of the Creative Partnerships programme run by The Mighty Creatives. It is a ‘Change’ School and so it is keen to make whole school change by putting creativity at the heart of teaching and learning. The school’s specific aims are:

  • To enable young people to develop their own strategies for independent learning, thinking and reflection skills.
  • To increase personalised learning and engagement.
  • To decrease passive learning.
  • To improve teaching and learning through building relationships – through shared experiences.

The school is currently working with 4 creative practitioners with Fi as the Creative Agent. We are looking at the aims from a variety of approaches including staff wellbeing sessions, outdoor learning areas and young people evaluating the whole process using digital media; becoming digital learning journey storytellers.

St Giles Special School

St Giles is part of the Creative Partnerships programme run by The Mighty Creatives. It is a ‘Change’ School and so it is keen to make whole school change by putting creativity at the heart of teaching and learning. The school’s specific aims are:

  • Exploring how movement, music and singing can help us to understand and express emotions
  • Involving pupils more through personalised learning to support development of their emotional expression and communication.

The school is currently working with 3 creative practitioners with Fi as the Creative Agent. We are looking at ways we can facilitate environments where the children lead the way through choice of music and movement in response to different stimuli. All Teaching Assistants are involved in the process and twilight sessions are run weekly to explore CPD and the approaches we have been exploring with the students.
